敝口深腹，圈足，胎体较薄，内外满工开光人物图，碗内及碗外壁有开光，以描金回纹间隔，内以红楼梦故事为题材，人物众多，画面清晰，层次分明。色彩红绿相应，金碧辉煌。碗形之大，叹为观止，为典型的广彩风格大作。 17世纪以来欧洲人重华瓷，而清廷规定我国与欧洲贾舶的通商仅在广州互市，为了方便按洋人的要求彩绘图案，国内商人乃将景德镇烧造的白瓷运至广州，另雇工匠，仿照西洋或中国的传统图案彩绘，于珠江南岸开炉烘烧制成彩瓷，“广彩”之名由此而来。其大量产品外销，图案装饰性强，尤其突出红彩与绿彩，这种浓重鲜丽的装饰风格颇具特色。此碗是清中期的代表作品，为外销陈设重器。
