Ca. 1368-1644 ADA very large glazed pottery foo lion altar, of three piece construction, depicting a standing lion, having a fancy flame type tail, smoke curled mane and fanged mouth. Wearing a decorated harness with bells. A center socket in the middle of his back, which connects to a separately made large multisided orb, ith openwork stylized star elements, and finally a lotus flower top piece. All are in colors of shades of green and mustard. Overall exc. condition. An impressive and beautiful piece. This piece has been precisely dated by means of a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla, an independent German Laboratory. The samples collected date the piece to the period reflected in its style, whilst also showing no modern trace elements.
