Qing Dynasty, 19th century.Hand-painted porcelain.Measures: 36 x 22 x 22 cm.Chinese vase from the end of the Qing Dynasty, 19th century, with circular forms, small neck and the mouth open at the top. Hand-painted with vegetal, geometric and border decorations in various colours.Meiping (meaning 'prunus vase') is the later name given to jars with constricted necks that were originally used to hold alcohol. Decorative jugs like this one were used for serving at the table, the liquor having been decanted from larger vases. Later these vases were used to hold branches of plum blossom. It is a tall vase, with a narrow base that extends gracefully into a broad body, followed by a highly rounded shoulder, a short narrow neck with a small top opening.Dimensions: 36 x 22 x 22 cm.
