Rare very large Swatow bowl, China, Ming dynasty(1368-1644), 16th/17th c., wide greyish-glossy porcelain bowl with thick cobalt blue underglaze colour application, in the centre a lotus ensemble with leaves, blossoms and buds surrounded by dynamic waves, at the rim four blossom medallions, concentric cobalt blue circles for decoration, at the bottom probably the character tian(heaven) as manufactory mark, hardly noticeable hairline crack, 23,5x8,5cm
