Waffle iron or wafer iron, c. 1800, iron. Two round iron plates with long handles connected by hinges. On the two inner sides deeply incised, mirror-inverted decoration as a matrix for the wafer pattern. Here on one side heraldic decoration with bird in round shield surrounded by volutes, above horned helmet with bird as crest. On the other side a curved monogram with crown. An 8-shaped ring attached to the end of the handle to secure the tongs. Forged, heavy, solid construction. Beautiful iron patina. Diameter of plates 16cm, total length 75 cm.
