拍品口圆口，长直颈，扁圆腹，圈足外撇，器型似荸荠而得名，通体施孔雀蓝釉。孔雀蓝釉是一种以铜为着色剂的低温釉，因呈色似孔雀尾羽而得名。始见于宋磁州窑，元代景德镇亦开始制作，烧造过程较为复杂，需先在1300摄氏度高温下烧制涩胎，然后施孔雀蓝釉，再二次入窑低温烘烧而成。孔雀蓝釉是陶瓷史中一个重要的瓷器品种。
