A rare Chinese 'Taiping Rebellion' Edict, dated 1861, ink writing on yellow silk from the 'Shield King' Hong Rengan, inscribed in Chinese documenting the king's decision on a shipping dispute, with seal of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, 48cm x 43cmHong Rengan (洪仁玕) was an important leader of the Taiping Rebellion. He was a distant cousin of the movement's founder and spiritual leader Hong Xiuquan.
