It was here that John first started collecting the paintings of Ong Kim Seng some of which are offered in this sale. John visited the exhibition 'Artist On Top of The World' in Gallery Asia in Victoria Street, Singapore in 1979. Kim Seng had just returned from painting in the Himalayas and John purchased two paintings in August in 1979 and asked to meet the artist. John and Ong had an immediate connection and stayed friends until John died thirty years later.
