After the Lysippides Painter, Ca. 510-500 BC.An attractive blackware oinochoe with a nicely delineated foot, a rotund body, a cylindrical neck that rises to a carefully modeled trefoil spout, and a vertical loop handle joining the rim with a shoulder. On the body is the representation of the episode of the Dioscuri returning to home. On center is depicted Kastor standing, holding two javelins and the bridle of the horse. On both sides, two couples watch the scene, probably Leda with Tyndareus and Helen or Clytemnestra with Pollux. Well repaired.Size: L:140mm / W:290mm ; 700gProvenance: Property of a London doctor. formerly in English private collection, purchased from an Art Gallery during 1970s or eraly 80s.
