Note: The present picture is a 19th-century copy, in reverse, of Cristofano Allori's original oil painting, held at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. It also relates, with compositional differences, to an oil by Francesco Albani (1578-1660), which sold at the Earl of Yarborough Sale, Christie's, London, 12 July 1929, lot 6; and to an oil by Guido Reni (1575-1642). The full-length, recumbent sleeping child is depicted draped in white cloth and lying on wooden cross.
