A German porcelain figure of a Bauermadchen (Peasant girl), possibly Hochst, possibly c.1770, crowned blue wheel mark, modelled as a young girl wearing a yellow and red bodice standing with her right arm pointing, on a grassy rocky mound base, 13.6cm high Provenance: Works of Art from the Schroder Collection.Note: An example of this J.P. Melchior model is illustrated by Kurt Roder, “Hochster Porzellan”, Mainz, 1930, pl. 46, no. 248.There is a small D-shaped chip to the edge of the base adjacent to the footrim – this is at the front of the base and is 2mm. x 4mm., and due the angle of its position, it is not very noticeable. There is some minute chipping to the flower tucked into her bodice – this is extremely minor and it is difficult to see as it is so small. The rest of the figure is in good condition.
