A GEORGE III IRISH SILVER SHAPED CIRCULAR SALVERJOHN LOCKER, DUBLIN 1778With a gadrooned border, engraved with an armorial and on four pad feet41cm (16in) diameter1774g (57 oz) The marshalled arms are for Solomon RICHARDS (1713-1784) of Solsborough, co. Wexford and his wife Frances VIGORS (1742-1799) daughter of Urban VIGORS (1705-1766) of Ballyconnick, co. Carlow by Alice THOMAS (1715-1767). They married in 1760. Solomon RICHARDS was the son of John RICHARDS (died 1749) of Solsborough. In 1753 he was Sheriff of co. Wexford. The RICHARDS family were descendants of a Colonel Solomon RICHARDS (1619-1691) who was born in Holborn Middlesex and buried in Westminster Abbey, he was a soldier in Cromwell's army and later the army of William of Orange. The RICHARDS family were earlier of Kent.
