Towards the end of the 1830s the Elkington start experimental processes in the use of electro-metallurgy principles in gilding and silvering, the patent being finally obtained in 1840.Elkington owes his great success amongst the most important United Kingdom silversmiths, to the adoption of this new process and to the two most famous designers that he then employed, Albert WILMS (1827-1899) and MOREL-LADEUIL (1820-1888), both French nationals who, together, were important contributors for the building of Elkington's reputation, with their elaborate display pieces.The company was awarded various Royal Warrants in the United Kingdom as well as an Imperial and Royal Warrant by the Emperor of Austria.One of their most important pieces is the electrolyte copy of the Jerningham wine cooler in the Victoria & Albert Museum collection.重量(g): 477 g
