Ca. 600 BC.A ceramic, black-glazed bucchero jug with a bulbous-shaped body resting on a short, partly glazed foot. The body tapers through a shoulder with grooved decoration to a short tubular neck finished with a flared lip. A long strap handle connects the shoulder with a mouth. Bucchero is a black and shiny ceramic type, which was produced in central Italy by the Etruscans. The most obvious characteristic of this type of ceramic is the completely black colour that has been obtained thanks to a particular firing. The bucchero was used in Etruria from the second quarter of the 7th to the first half of the 5th century BC.Size: L:70mm / W:55mm ; 45gProvenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s.
