Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 1368-1644 AD.A light cream stone torso of a warrior. The heavily-armoured figure stands in a static posture with his legs shoulder-width apart and one arm raised in front of the body. The figures arms, body, and legs are covered in heavy, interlocking plates of armour over a baggy tunic and surrounded by a heavy cape, a uniform typical of medieval Chinese warfare. The figure stands atop a square base, apparently barefooted, perhaps suggesting that this piece depicts a ceremonial occasion rather than a warrior during battle. This stunning piece would form an excellent centrepiece for a modern collection. Good condition.Size: L:480mm / W:280mm ; 25KgProvenance: Private London collection, formed in the 1970s on the UK and European art market.
