|此香熏为铜质，包浆圆润自然，牛背上盘腿而坐的老子为香熏盖，做工精巧，构思巧妙。老子衣袍舒卷，手持经卷斜坐于牛背之上，面容安详可亲，面须、发丝随风飘舞，极富动感的线条使其栩栩如生，背后有穿，可供熏烟四溢。铜牛引颈向前，以写实的表现手法塑造，丝毫未见生硬之处，老子、牛二者恰到好处，构成一幅生动的老子出关景象，据司马迁《史记》记载：老子姓李，名耳，字聃，因而人称老聃，曾做过周王室管理藏书的史官，后来隐居不仕，骑青牛西出函谷关后“莫知其所终”。本品将乘青牛而隐逸的老者形象刻划的惟妙惟肖，堪称佳器。
