说明：老子西出函谷关之典故，早于汉代即已形成。刘向《列仙传》记老子出关：“后周德衰，乃乘青牛车去。入大秦，过西关。关令尹喜待而迎之，知真人也。乃强使著书，作《道德经》上下二卷。”故老子骑青牛之形象流传甚广，沿袭至明清时期又别具深意，据詹石窗先生的观点，以牛代表天、地、人三才，而老子本身则为“道”之化身。老子骑牛亦可代表“道”掌天、地、人三才，万物有道可依之观点。此像以老子骑牛为题，通身做烧古工艺，色泽沉穆，更显铜质润泽。容貌奇古，额头隆寿，侧首阖目，五官深邃而泰然，现嶙峋瘦骨，更添沧隽之感。身着广袖长袍，左手持书卷，右手自然垂放于膝上，呈游戏坐姿舒坐于牛背之上。牛呈回首之态，一足蜷起，牛目炯炯有神，巧妙而传神。
