Description A BLUE AND WHITE 'TRAVERSING THE RIVER' PORCELAIN VASE, 1930sChina, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) – Republic Period (1912-1949). Of pear-shape, rising from a long, splayed foot to a ribbed neck with everted rim, finely painted with a rocky shore at a river, a fisherman crossing over and two courtiers resting. The neck decorated with a band of spirals. The recessed base with an apocryphal six-character Chenghua reign mark.Condition: Very good condition, minor wear, few light firing cracks to the interior, and dark spots.Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1970 and has remained in the family ever since.Weight: 994 gDimensions: Height 24.9 cm
