Description A LOT WITH TWO SIGNED WOOD MASK NESUKEJapan, Edo period (1615-1868) - Meiji period (1868-1912)The first a wood mask netsuke of Raiden, the god of thunder, with furrowed eyebrows above large bulging eyes with metal inlaid pupils, and a broad nose with flaring nostrils. The backside bridge with a single himotoshi and incised signature Shuzan. The second depicting an Old Man (Kojo), with finely incised wrinkles and hair, showing a tense expression with a weary smile, the backside bridge with a single small himotoshi and incised artist signature of Deme Joman as well as a dating.HEIGHT 4.8 and 4.1 cmCondition: With minor traces of wear and age. The first with minor nibbling to edges and the second with a restoration to the upper left and to the chin. Provenance: European collection.
