Description SHOSAI: A WOOD NETSUKE WITH OTSU-E-FIGURESSigned Shosai 抄齋Japan, 19th centuryCarved as a seated man opening a scroll from which four Otsu-e figures emerge, the group consisting of the standing falconer with his falcon on the left arm, Fujihime, in rich garb with a large hat and a wisteria twig over her shoulder, and two other figures. Small asymmetrical himotoshi to the underside, one ringed in green stained bone.HEIGHT 3.5 cmCondition: Very good condition with minor surface wear. Provenance: American private collection.
