African with French horn from the wedding procession of Amberg, KPM Berlin, mark before 1945, 1st choice, red imperial orb mark, model no. 9625, signed on oval base, polychrome painted, h. 29 cm, Adolph Amberg (1874 - 1913) began to design a large figural centerpiece for KPM around 1904. This was to be presented for the wedding of Crown Prince Wilhelm of Prussia to Cecilie of Mecklenburg on June 6, 1905, but did not meet the emperor's taste and was therefore rejected. After three years, Amberg resumed the project in 1908 and finished the final pieces in 1910.Literature Cf. v. Treskow, Die Jugendstil-Porzellane der KPM, Munich 1971, p. 322.
