Rare pair of chrysanthemum-shaped Imari porcelain plates, Japan, Arita, Edo period(1603-1868), c. 1800, porcelain plates with chrysanthemum rim(jap. rinka), cobalt blue underglaze painting and iron red onglaze painting, copper red enamel as well as gold paint, decoration of a magnificent peony bouquet under a flowering plum tree in the center, surrounded by diamond and cord patterned segments as well as gold accented phoenixes and chrysanthemum vine work, numerous flower heads, nearly perfect condition, each D 45,5cm
