Hermann Kreidt (1906-?), Düsseldorf-based painter and graphic artist, studied in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Innsbruck and Berlin until 1930, taught at the Folkwang School of Design in Essen and at the State Academy of Art in Düsseldorf, member of the Rhenish Secession. Large double portrait of mother Margarethe surrounded by naturalistically designed flowers, fruits, scorpion, sea creatures and exotic vessels, partly apparently unfinished, but so sent to the ''Gallery in Flottbek'', at the lower edge somewhat cracked, unsigned, verso on frame with gallery and artist's address, 70 x 100 cm, behind glass and passepartout framed 96 x 125 cm
