Mid Qing Dynasty|The well-rounded lower body rising from a deeply splayed foot to a slender and very gently flaring neck, the shaped handle naturalistically modelled as a gnarled prunus branch, extending to the sides of the neck into blossoming smaller branches of applied duanni clay, the spout designed as a duanni bamboo also extending applied leafy shoots to the lower body, the finial in the form of a pine tree.|18cm (7 1/8in) high (2).|Provenance: Purchased from 'Lorenz John' (Lorenz Denney and John Hilliard) on 10 March (or August) 1986 (collector's note).A very similar ewer, but of red and buff clay, was sold by Woolley and Wallis, Asian Art, 16 May 2017, lot 226.
