Kangxi and Qianlong, the second marked 'Chen Jinhou'|The first, of a reddish brown clay, of tapering globular form with chrysanthemums under archaistic dragons, the cover with oversized Buddhist Lion finial; the second, of slightly darker hue, with fan-shaped medallions amongst Buddhist Emblems, the base with impressed seal mark, the interior of the lid with an incised symbol, metal replacement spout.|The largest: 20.5cm (8 1/8in) in wide (4).|Provenance: the Kangxi teapot purchased from J. Hilliard, Collectors Corner, Portobello Road, London, on 5 November 1983 (receipt).Chen Jinhou is a known potter active in the Qianlong period. Examples of his work are exhibited in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, item no. 1984.472, and in the Palace Museum Collection, see Yixing Zisha Wares in the Palace Museum, Beijing, 2009, p.252, pl.156.
