This distinctive shape of teapot is unique, but no one knows for sure who made it. In particular, this shape of handle was in use about 1815-20 by several potters in Staffordshire. Brameld made handles in this shape, as did Cyples. The scrolling enameled design relates wonderfully to the design of the collar and the spout, creating an absolutely pure and perfect balance between surface and shape. A lovely teapot and one of my favorites. It is rather large, at eleven and a half inches from end to end. The condition is quite good: there is a small chip on the side of the spout, likewise a small chip on the rim of the lid, and light staining.
