A CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL JAR AND COVER, 18TH CENTURYChina. Ofpressed globular form, tapering towards the foot, the short neck with a gilt rim, decorated around the exterior with stylized dragons amid scrolling clouds above a turquoise ground, enclosed by a band of ruyi to the shoulder and a lappet border above the foot, the neck and foot with key-fret. The cover similarly decorated with dragons and scrolling clouds and surmounted by gilt lotus petals supporting the globular finial.Provenance: British trade. Remnants of an old label to the base.Condition: Good condition,mensurate with age and displaying nicely overall. There is a remote possibility that vessel and cover may have been associated, but they are definitely from the same period.
