款识：云间胡文明制
拍品取铜为材，形作簋式，唇口外侈，鼓腹下垂，底承圈足。颈腹间两侧各铆接有一龙耳；腹下圈足系连同器身乃一体捶打錾刻而成，印面施以鎏金。炉身分三段纹饰，颈、足为錾花龟甲锦地，阳文鎏金缠枝花卉纹，上下对称呼应；腹部较宽，錾浪涛锦地，阳文鎏金振翅应龙及海怪瑞兽；炉耳浮雕鎏金龙首，分制镶接。底心长方框篆书二行六字“云间胡文明制”。
胡文明，约于万历年间，铸铜工艺名匠。云间人。擅长铸造铜炉与文房用具，能按古代式造彝、鼎、尊、卣之类极为精致的铜器。在当时的价值就很高，时称“胡炉”。
