Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Figure of the Buddha seated in the "dhyanasana" posture with his hands on his lap, forming a "dhyana mudra", the gesture of meditation. The face is expressionless, but the countenance is serene, with eyes and mouth closed. The robe she wears leaves one shoulder uncovered and is simple in contrast to the elaborate jewellery. The tiara with spikes and reliefs of spirals, cabochons and ruyi, as well as the heavy flower-shaped earrings hanging from his distended ears, the necklace, bracelets and bangles stand out. He is attached to a square pedestal on which hangs a deeply pleated cloth and a flower at the front. On the back is a three-lobed, flaming halo attached to two holes. On the lower frame is an inscription in Chinese "大清乾隆庚寅年敬造" "Reverently made in the year Geng-Yin of the Qianlong era during the Qing dynasty". It shows wear, flaws and patina typical of antiquity.Height: 21.20 x 9 x 11.50 cm; Weight: 1.083 kgProvenance:European private collection, Italy, Carbone family.
