Georges Emile Henri Servant (1828-um 1890), zugeschrieben225 x 67 x 40 cm und 183 x 55 x 21 cm.Frankreich, um 1880.Beim Anblick der drei hochdekorativen Karyatiden, die dem griechischen Stil entlehnt sind, denkt man direkt an die auch zu dieser Zeit entstandenen Skulpturen der Opéra Garnier in Pairs (um 1875) und auch an die von Servant bei der Weltausstellung in Paris 1878 ausgestellten Skulpturen. Die vorliegenden Werke sind Kombinationsstücke aus schwarzem Marmor und Bronze. Jeweils auf gekanteten und gekehlten Basen gelagerte Lisenenkörper mit plastischem kontrastierendem Blattwerkdekor und daraus erwachsenden Figurenkörpern mit Halsketten, Kopfschmuck und Jardinièren- bzw. Vasenaufsätzen. Servant hatte 1855 die Gießerei seines Vaters in der Rue Vieille-du-Temple in Paris übernommen, die mit großem Erfolg etwa Gehäuse im Stil Retour d‘Egypt herstellte aber auch im griechischen Stil arbeitete, wie wir es hier sehen können. In den 1860er-Jahren wurden 40 % der Produktion bereits exportiert, vor allem in die USA, und 1867 erhielt er auf der Weltausstellung in Paris eine Goldmedaille für seine neoklassischen Arbeiten, wurde 1874 Mitglied der Ehrenlegion und 1878 nicht nur Aussteller sondern sogar Jurymitglied der Weltausstellung.Literatur:Vgl. The present works arebination pieces of black marble and bronze. Pilasters on canted and grooved bases with three-dimensional contrasting foliage decoration and a figure with necklaces, headdress and jardinières or vases growing out of it. In 1855 Servant had taken over his father´s foundry on the rue Vieille-du-Temple in Paris, which produced cases in the Retour d'Egypt style with great success, but also worked in the Greek style, as is the case here. In the 1860s, 40% of the production was already exported, mainly to the USA, and in 1867 he received a gold medal for his neo-classical works at the Paris World Exhibition, became a member of the Legion of Honour in 1874 and was not only an exhibitor but also a member of the jury at the World Exhibition in 1878.Literature:cf.
