Description
Translation provided by Youdao
Ca. 2500-1800 BC. A square-shaped steatite seal featuring an engraved obverse depicting a left-facing bovine animal with its head over an altar. A line of the script is present at the top edge of the seal, adding an additional layer of meaning to the piece. The reverse of the seal features a perforated handle, allowing it to be easily carried or worn as a personal adornment. The image of the animal is exquisitely rendered, with a high level of detail and skill evident in every aspect of the design. Its flowing mane and muscular body are meticulously carved, while its distinctive spiraled horn and cloven hooves are highly stylized.
