官窑匠师在康熙五彩瓷的基础上，发明了粉彩。据说雍正皇帝对粉彩情有独钟，因此当时的工匠对粉彩瓷的造型、色彩、线条的制作都非常讲究，从而成就了“雍正粉彩”的辉煌。该宝瓶的瓶体绘制了粉彩八桃两蝠，因桃子象征“长寿”，蝠是“福”的谐音，寓意福寿双全。据考证，这种瓷器乃帝王后妃做寿之用。中国瓷器协会会长、上海博物馆副馆长汪庆正评价：如此瓷瓶全球存世的只有这件，堪称绝世。2002年香港苏富比春拍，成交价4150万港元，创清代瓷器市场最高价。
