Followers of the sage Confucius considered it one of the 'Four Spiritually Endowed Creatures', along with the qilin, phoenix, and dragon. In Daoist philosophy, the tortoise symbolises the universe. Its domed shell represents the heavens, and its flat underside, the earth. Its long life also became an emblem of strength and longevity.sold_price_type: £
