A CHINESE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF A PHOENIX Tang Dynasty 唐 鎏金銅孔雀 The bird cast standing atop a gnarled branch, with long flowing feathers and wings tucked against its body, with a slender, curved neck and narrow pointed beak, together with a metal stand, 12.5cm high, 15.7cm long (2) Provenance: Private London collection Note:pare a gilt-bronze finial that shares similar characteristics to the head of the present lot, dated to the Tang Dynasty, illustrated in Eskenazi, 'Ancient Chinese bronze vessels', June - July 1997, p.69, no.43.
