A JAPANESE DISH BY SAKAIDA KAKIEMON XIV (1934 – 2013) 20th / 21st Century Painted with a bird perched on a branch of a blooming prunus, the reverse with a signature, together with a certificate and a tomobako box signed and sealed by the artist, 15.2cm diameter (4) Sakaida Kakiemon XIV, born Sakaida Masashi (1934 – 2013), the 14th generation member of the Kakiemon Family of ceramicists dating back to early Edo period. In 2001 he gained the status of the Living National Treasure by the Japanese government, his works are held by major world-class museums such as the British Museum.
