A SET OF THREE BURMESE BRONZE 'STUPA' GONGS, KYIZI 19th/20th Century Each kyizi of flattened 'stupa' form, with curved, pointed tips, the upper part of the body cast with characters, 10cm wide (3) - PROVENANCE: Previously in the collection of a British missionary family residing in Burma in the 1920s-30s; Collection of Prospect Burma, UK. - The kyizi is used for ceremonial purposes, and larger ones can be found hanging in Buddhist temples throughout present-day Myanmar, with variations found across Asia. c.f.
