AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ FIGURE OF A TIGERChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The elegant feline with a slender body, its head raised high, mouth wide open in mid-roar, exposing its sharp teeth, and its tail curled upwards. The body adorned with finely incised archaistic patterns and the tigers’ distinctive stripes.Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, rubbing to the gilt, losses to the teeth, manufacturing flaws, and some areas of malachite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
