AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ CENSERChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The parcel-gilt round censer supported by five feet in the form of four-toed beast claws, the body decorated with beast masks, each with a single hoop attached, surmounted by a domed pierced cover, with the knob made as a lotus bud. The censer and cover adorned with finely incised archaistic patterns.Condition: Good condition with minimal surface wear, rubbing to the gilt, and areas of malachite, azurite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
