AN ARCHAISTIC FIRE-GILT COPPER REPOUSSÉ CENSER AND COVER, DINGChina, style of the Tang dynasty - dating to the late Qing dynasty (1644-1912) or slightly later. The compressed globular body supported by four legs, terminating in claw feet, issuing from mythical beast heads, the neck decorated with stylized gui dragons, and flanked by two handles in the form of scrolling dragons. The everted rim adorned with a meander band, surmounted by a reticulated cover, depicting dragons and phoenixes, and crowned by a stylized bird finial.Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, manufacturing flaws, rubbing to the gilt, warping, nicks, and areas of malachite, and cuprite encrustations. Provenance: Estate of Wolfgang Zacke (1942-2022), co-founder of Galerie Zacke, thence by descent.
