The present lot was made in lacquer which makes it less perishable, see a huanghuali octagonal tray of the late Ming period, sold at Sotheby's Hong Kong, previously in the Dr S.Y. Yip collection, 5 April 2017, lot 3509.盤呈八角形，每邊開光髹紅漆飾以編竹，整器其餘部分髹深褐漆，平底，造型別致，古意盎然。明末清初時期用具如香道或茶道用盤子的傳世例子稀少，它們多是以易腐朽的柴木造，而本器以相對強韌的漆製造，得以保留下來，十分難得。見一八角形倭角造型的明末黃花梨八角盤，攻玉山房舊藏，2017年4月5日售於香港蘇富比，拍品3509。
