The multi-panelled screens have long history and developed from the single-panelled screen which is traceable to as early as the Warring States period (475-221 BC).Details A HUANGHUALI OPENWORK SIX-PANEL SCREENQING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURYEach narrow panel consists of five well carved horizontal panels, the top two and the bottom one with begonia shaped medallions enclosing stylized shou character andflanked by chi-dragons writhing amidst scrolling clouds, divided by a narrower panel of qilin and a panel of two confronting chi-dragons.
