Samorodok silver with gold and onyx clasp. Apparently not marked. 202 g 0.4 x 3.9 x 3 in. The Samorodok technique (literally meaning pure metal), very popular in Russia between 19th and 20th centuries, consists of heating silver almost to its melting point and cooling it abruptly in water. In this way an effect of a crumpled and rough surface is obtained.
