Oil on canvas. Signed lower right recto. 24.21 x 16.54 in. The works of the Florentine painter Andreotti transport his scenes of serene everyday life in a dreamy universe, often inhabited by women who seem to move to the rhythm of the notes of a concert made of grace andposure: all with great technical skill and a sparkling palette and dreamlike, always made of wonderfully calibrated little touches. Abandoning history painting early enough, which earned him more criticism than praise, Andreotti concentrated mainly on the creation of genre scenes, often set in the 17th and 18th centuries, and here success was not long ining: especially overseas from which he received numerous orders. The canvas presented here, depicting a young woman in an elegant crème satin dress, with moon skin and raven hair, recalls the beauty of the Alma-Tadema girls, with whom she also shares the skill in painting flowers, so beautiful as to evoke sublime perfumes.
