Age: Jiaqing (1796-1820) red seal mark and of the period

Description: A fine Chinese Famille Rose "Landscape" bowl, with rounded sides and gilt rim, delicately painted around the exterior with an extensive view of the Jiangxi Region, with a descriptive four-character inscription naming the scene, detailed with figures on a bridge, dwellings in a river and panoramic mountain landscape with low clouds, also painted with a Tang dynasty poem in black calligraphy and red seal marks, plain interior.This and the next lot are probably part of a larger set of ten landscape bowls each painted with a different Jiangxi region view.

Note: According to Geng Baochang "there is recorded a set of ten Jiaqing landscape bowls with similar views". The lot offered here is of slightly larger size. for reference see:

Condition Report: A Chinese famille rose landscape bowl, the bowl appears to be in very good condition, with ware commensurate with age, wear is visible on the gilding, and on the outer rim, slight scratches are visible on the surface of the glaze both in interior and exterior of the bowl, some slight wear to the enamels, residue is visible on the interior of the foot rim, the bowl resonates nicely when struck, has not been examined under a black light.
