Ca. 17th-18th century AD. Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, 2nd half of 17th century. From a classical Polish hussars armour of so-called winged hussars. Round skull, made of two pieces, connected together with iron rivets. The skull is decorated with big brass rosettes. The top of the skull is decorated with a big brass piece, decorated with many dots. Horizontal visor, fixed to the skull with rivets, decorated with round brass rosettes. Wide face guard of characteristic shape, decorated with hammered small circles and one big brass rosette in the center. The narrow holder of the face guard is passing through the visor and is adjusted with the screw. Semi-round cheek guards, decorated with characteristic brass elements, with heart – shape opening in the middle, edges of which are also decorated with characteristic brass elements. Neck guard from 6 movable lames, last one almost triangle. Each lame is decorated with characteristic brass elements. The lower part of the skull is also decorated with brass elements. This type of decoration with brass is characteristic only to Polish hussars helmets. Dr. Fischer - Fine Art Auctions, Lucerne, 11/12 September 1996, lot 377, sold for 10,000 CHF.
