Ikeda Taishin was the chief pupil of the famous lacquer artist Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891).Maeda Nansai (1880-1958) exhibited at the 1925 (Taisho 14) Paris Exposition. He also exhibited at the 1926 (Taisho 15) Philadelphia Exposition, USA, and won a gold prize. His family continues its woodwork crafting tradition and its 4th generation in practice.
