A George II silver sauce boat, London 1744, David Hennell I, raised on three shell-shouldered pad feet, the body with shaped rim engraved with crest and monogram to double scroll handle with acanthus thumbpiece, approx. 20.7cm long (inc. handle), approx. 12.3cm high (inc. handle), approx. weight 13.4oz Condition Report: The sauce boat is in fairly good conditionmensurate with age. Some general surface scratching, nicking and minor pitting noted. Some small dings also noted. It sits flat on its feet and does not wobble. The legs are pushing through slightly to the inside and there is a semi-circular split visible to the interior above one leg. There is some solder in this split (to both interior and exterior) indicating that there has been a repair here. There is also a smaller split beginning to form to interior of the sauce boat above front leg where the shell shoulder is pushing in. Handle is in line with spout and in good condition. Crest and engraved letter to side both crisp (later added). Date letter and maker's mark slightly rubbed but marks generally clear.
