The almost square plaque finely painted in bright enamels with green imitating robin’s egg, blue-green, pink, light cobalt blue, violet, and lemon-yellow depicting a peacock with colorful plumage perched on a blossoming prunus branch, his head turned backwards. Overall with sensitively added red, black, and green accents, in the left corner with craggy rockwork, all above a rich, dark blue ground, reminiscent of Kangxi powder blue. Provenance: Neikrug Galleries, Inc., New York. A private collection in New York, USA, acquired from the above and thence by descent. The Neikrug Galleries were established by Marjorie ‘Marge’ Neikrug (1913-2017) in 1971 and specialized in contemporary photography, photographica, rare books, and Chinese art. Mrs. Neikrug was a dealer, collector, appraiser, and one of the founding members of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers. She taught at the Parsons School of Design in New York City and at New York University.Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and few light scratches.
