A KHMER STYLE BRONZE FIGURE OF VISHNU, c. 17th CENTURYSoutheast Asia, c. 17th century. Standing in samapada on a square base, four-armed, wearing a short sampot secured with an elaborate beaded belt, the face with wide smiling features flanked by long foliate earrings, the hair piled into a tall jatamukuta and secured with a tiara. Mounted on a recent base.Condition: With wear, nicks, losses, and with extensive malachite patina.Provenance: Private British collection. A sticker on the underside of the base reads ‘Acquired by Krishna B. in auction May 25th 1969'.Scientific Analysis Report: An Expert Report from Antiques Analytics – Institute of Scientific Authenticity Testing, test report number AA 21-06106, dated 15 November 2021, written and signed by Dr. R. Neunteufel, analyzing the metal by atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-OES measurement), dates the object to the 16th – 17th century (at earliest).
