A LOT WITH TWO LACQUERED MINIATURE WOOD FIGURES OF A BUDHHAThailand and Nepal, late 19th century. The larger a lacquered Thai wood figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, seated in maravijaya on a raised base with an incised inscription, his hands in bhumisparsa mudra, the left resting in his lap, with spiral hair, and surmounted by a ushnisha with flame. The second a Nepalese figure set on a rectangular metal base, depicting the Medicine Buddha seated in dhyanasana, his left hand holding a vessel, his right hand resting on his knee, and backed by a flaming mandorla. Condition: Overall fine condition with surface wear, some tiny nicks. The larger figure with age cracks, chips, flaking and losses to lacquer. Provenance: Estate of an Austrian collector, the collection was assembled in the 1980s – 1990s through purchases at Galerie Zacke and other specialized galleries in Vienna.
